I Don't Care If We Never Get Back
The American baseball road trip is a kind of rite of passage for guys, young and old. A group of guys pile into a car or minivan and try to attend as many ball games as possible. Along the way, they consume a bunch of junk food and caffeine, trade off driving responsibilities and wear the same stinky clothes for days on end. Baseball is the only major sport played throughout the summer months, the one time of year agreeable to such an endeavor.
Most people try to do a handful of ball games at a time, limited to a particular geographic area (the Northeast, the West Coast, etc.) But recent college grads Ben Blatt and Eric Brewster attempted to do the seemingly impossible: attending 30 games at all 30 Major League ballparks in as many days. Not only that, they set specific rules for themselves: they would make the trip only by car, be at the game in time to see the first pitch, and stay until the game is over (extra innings included.) Ben, the math wizard of the two, came up with a complicated plan using an algorithm that, barring any mishaps or rainouts, proved it could be done.
