Renovation Celebration at the Martin Luther King Library ~ March 22, 1997
The Martin Luther King Library located at 310 W. Locust St. celebrated a major renovation on Saturday, March 22 1997.
The current Martin Luther King Library opened on September 18, 1971 and was named the Locust Library. On April 12, 1973, the Locust Library was re-dedicated in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King. Nearly 25 years later, it was renovated.
As we look to the future, we are very excited to know that the Martin Luther King Library is one of the branches that will be replaced. Visit the Milwaukee Public Library's Library Development page for more information.
As we celebrate the rich history of the Martin Luther King Library, we also celebrate the history of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Please join us Monday, January 18th from 9-4 to celebrate the 2016 Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Holiday. We have a whole day of fun and free activities for the entire family!
