See How Small by Scott Blackwood
Late on a fall evening in Austin, Texas, two strangers enter an ice cream shop just before closing. Three teenage girls are working the counter. The men bind them, set the shop on fire and disappear.
Afterward, the girls watch over the town, at times even trying to connect with those left behind. Their spirits are able to observe the reactions of various people, the owner of the store and mother of two of the victims, the fireman who found the girls too late to save them, the getaway car driver, a local news reporter and others--exposing their personal struggles independent of the tragedy and at the same time revealing clues to the events that led to the crime.
A mystery and a ghost story, See How Small is an intricately developed story about a violent crime and its bearing on the community.
